Kansas City Current News Release
KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Current have signed defender Croix Soto (CROY SOH-toh) to a one-year contract through the 2023 season. Soto is expected to be available for selection this weekend as the team travels to play the Chicago Red Stars Saturday, April 15 at 7 p.m. CT.
A mainstay on the backline during her four years at the University of Oregon, Croix comes to the Current with a defense-first mindset. She played 62 matches (57 starts) and just under 5,500 minutes for the Fighting Ducks before graduating in 2022. She was All-Pac 12 Third Team in 2020, then in 2021 she earned All-Pac12 Second Team and United Soccer Coaches All-Pacific Third Team.
"Croix came in last week on a trial basis and did a great job fitting right in," said general manager Camille Ashton. "We're very excited for Croix to earn her first professional contract with the Current."
Croix and her new Current teammates head to Chicago on Saturday before opening the 2023 UKG Challenge Cup at the Houston Dash on Wednesday April 19 at 6:30 p.m. CT. The team then returns home April 23 to host the Orlando Pride at 4 p.m. CT. Tickets are available for that match at KansasCityCurrent.com.
