
Kansas City Current Duo Called up for February International Play

KANSAS CITY - Two additional Kansas City Current players have been called to represent their respective countries during the February FIFA International window, Feb. 19-28. Defender Stine Ballisager Pedersen has been called to represent Denmark, while midfielder Sophie Braun will join Argentina.
Ballisager and her Danish teammates will gather in Marbella, Spain for a 10-day camp, culminating in a friendly match against Austria Feb. 28 at 9:30 a.m. CT. Denmark will use this window to prepare for the UEFA Women's Championship qualifiers later this year. Ballisager is a veteran of the Danish national team, with 53 caps for her country, including the 2023 FIFA World Cup. Signing with the Current during the World Cup, she closed out the 2023 NWSL season with three appearances and two starts for the club.
Braun signed with Kansas City in January of this year. Originally from Beaverton, Oregon, her mother's heritage has allowed Braun to play for Argentina since 2020. She made her debut for the senior team a year later and now has 25 caps and 2 goals on the international circuit. Argentina begins play in the inaugural Concacaf W Gold Cup against Mexico Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m. CT. They then take on the U.S. Feb 23 at 9:15 p.m. CT before closing out group play Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. CT against the winner of the Concacaf Prelim match between Guyana and Dominican Republic, Feb. 17.
