Kansas City Current Acquire $150,000 in Allocation Money from OL Reign

KANSAS CITY - Ahead of Thursday's NWSL Draft, the Kansas City Current have agreed to a trade with OL Reign. In exchange for forward Elyse Bennett and the 23rd overall selection in the draft, the Current will receive $150,000 in allocation money.

"Elyse played an important role in our run to the championship last year," said general manager Camille Levin Ashton. "We want to thank her for her contributions to the club both on and off the pitch and wish her the best going forward."

Bennett was the seventh overall selection and Kansas City's first pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft. Following up on her collegiate career at Washington State, Bennett played in all seven Challenge Cup games, 21 games of the regular season and all three playoff games for the Current in 2022. She had three goals and six assists in all competitions and was named the Challenge Cup Week Five Player of the Week.

The Kansas City Current now has seven picks heading into the 2023 NWSL Draft which begins at 5 p.m. CT on Thursday, Dec. 12 from Philadelphia, PA. The draft will air live across CBS platforms. Coverage will begin on CBS Sports Network, Paramount+ and CBS Sports HQ, the free 24/7 streaming sports news network, 5 to 6 p.m. CT. The draft livestream will continue on Paramount+ and CBS Sports HQ from 6 through the conclusion of the event.
