OVERVIEW
The Brigade has another chance to get its first win in front of the home crowd. The team has lost its last two games by only a combined 11 points and has had a chance to win or tie on the final play of each game. Columbus comes to Kemper on a two game losing streak, including a 53-38 setback at home to division opponent Dallas. The defeat dropped the Destroyers into last place in the Eastern Division.

THE SERIES
This will be the first-ever meeting between the National Conference opponents. They have one common opponent, both losing to Dallas.

WEEK THREE REVIEW
The Brigade played in front of a sellout crowd of 16,532 in its inaugural home opener but could not change its fortunes in a 37-33 loss to Austin. A defensive struggle turned into a thriller at the end of the game as the Brigade was poised to play hero to the home fans. The defense stone-walled the Wranglers on fourth-and-goal from the three yard line to end a 14-play drive that consumed eight minutes of the fourth quarter. Andy Kelly led the offense across midfield and down to the two yard line on a pass to Offensive Player of the Game Jerel Myers, who totaled 10 catches for 116 yards with two touchdowns. But multiple penalties on both teams and the tight quarters kept the Brigade out of the end zone.

UP NEXT
The Brigade endures another short week as the team travels to Atlanta on Thursday for a Friday night game against the Georgia Force at 6:30 p.m. at Philips Arena.

THE COACHES
Kansas City-Kevin Porter, first year

Kevin Porter comes to the Brigade as its first head coach with a reputation as one of the AFL's finest young defensive minds. In his first season as a defensive coordinator in 2004 with New Orleans, the VooDoo finished second in the league in scoring defense, surrendering only 721 points, sixth in rushing defense and fourth in passing defense. Porter's previous head coaching experience was in arenafootball2 with the Macon Knights and Pensacola Barracudas. He is the winningest coach in af2 history with a 45-27 record and led his teams to playoff every year, including a trip to the ArenaCup with Macon in 2003. Porter started his coaching career as the defensive backs coach of the Orlando Predators in 1999.
Porter was a third round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 1988 NFL Draft and played five years at strong safety, the last two with the New York Jets. He recorded 290 tackles, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Porter was an Honorable Mention All-America as a senior cornerback at Auburn.

Columbus-Doug Kay, first year in Columbus, fourth overall
1-2, 16-18 overall
Doug Kay is coaching his third team in a 12-year Arena Football coaching career that started in 1993 with the ArenaBowl VII champion Tampa Bay Storm. He served as the defensive coordinator for two years before becoming the head coach of the Charlotte Rage in 1995. Kay then moved to the Arizona Rattlers in 1997 as the defensive coordinator and won ArenaBowl XI. He returned to Charlotte as the head coach of the Carolina Cobras from 2000-01.
