Kania Receives NAHL Weekly Honors
March 4, 2015 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Aberdeen Wings News Release
The North American Hockey League announced their weekly honors for Easton Divisional Players of the Week. After two tough losses over the weekend, the league did recognize the outstanding performance of one Aberdeen Wings player, making his NAHL debut with a weekly honorable mention.
Wings goaltender #30 Luke Kania (G-Chicago, IL) made his NAHL debut Saturday night against the Austin Bruins on the road. Austin would get the best of the Wings 3-1, but for Kania, it was still a good performance. In the game, Kania faced 45 shots on goal, stopping 42 of them. Austin, well-known for having strong scoring lines, put 19 shots on goal in the first period, scoring twice. After Kania had settled in, he went on to stop 26 shots on goal surrendering only one goal.
Kania was signed as a free agent by the Aberdeen Wings on February 9th following the trade of goaltender Chad Catt to the Soo Eagles. Kania played prep hockey at nationally ranked powerhouse Shattuck-St. Mary's.
