Kalamazoo Kings Sign Two Players From Open Tryout

Kalamazoo-The Kalamazoo Kings held their annual open tryout this past Saturday. Held at Hyames Field at Western Michigan University, fourty-three players tried out for a spot with the team.

Two pitchers stood above the rest and will join the team for spring training. RHP Josh Barney played collegiately at Division II Findlay University in Ohio. Over his career, Josh posted an 8-5 record with a 3.66 ERA, along with 72 strikeouts in 78 innings of work.

Fellow pitcher Keegan Laycock will also be joining the team this spring. The intimidating 6'5", 230 lbs. righty comes with extensive professional experience, having played with the Frontier League's Florence Freedom in 2006 and the Continental Baseball League's Bay Area Toros the past two years.

Please join us Friday May 22 for opening day, as the Kings host the Traverse City Beach Bums. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. with gates to open at 6:00 p.m. Ticket prices are as follows: box seats - $8.00; general admission - $6.00.
