San Angelo Saints News Release
SAN ANGELO â The San Angelo Saints are excited today to announce the team has re-signed last year's Saints MVP Chris Peach who will return to help lead the team again for the 2003-04 season.
Peach led the Saints in scoring last season with 67 points in 64 games including 23 goals and a new career high for assists with 44. At the end of the season he was awarded both Iron Man and MVP honors. The native of St. John's, Newfoundland will be one of the Saints' 5 veterans allowed by the CHL and is the 6th member of last year's team to re-sign for next season. He is entering his 8th season of professional hockey after finishing his college career at the University of New Brunswick. Peach also led San Angelo in scoring during the 2001-02 season.
"I was able to sit down and visit with Chris and we are confident that he is on board with our new philosophies and how things are going to be run this year," said Saints head coach Ray Edwards. "If he is able to continue to adapt to the switch from winger to center he made last season, then we will have filled the role of a scoring centerman that we need."
"We really need Chris to have a career type season this year and also provide much more veteran leadership for our younger players."
The Saints now have 9 players signed for the 2003-04 season including forwards Peach, Jarett Metz, Steve Roberts, Rob Frost, Jonathan Parker and Brett Cross â and defensemen Konrad Brand, Derek Booth and Corri Moffat.
