Montreal Juniors News Release
The Montreal Juniors overcame a PEI Rocket comeback and defeated their island hosts in a shootout 3-2 Thursday night in Charlottetown.
The Juniors jumped out to an early lead on a penalty shot goal by Nicholas Chouinard and a short-handed marker by Jeremy Gouchie; all in the first period. But the Rocket stormed back with goals from Samuel Morneau and Philippe Paradis. Neither team could find the mark in overtime, so off they went to a shootout. Montreal's lone goal in the shootout came from Jeremy Gouchie and J-F Berube shut the door on all three Rocket shooters to preserve the shootout win.
Berube turned aside 26 of 28 in regulation and overtime to pick up the win. Both PEI goalies, Evan Mosher and Maxime Legace, saw action and plenty of it as the Juniors fired a total of 41 shots at the two Rocket goaltenders.
NOTES: The Juniors continue their road trip with back to back games on Saturday and Sunday versus the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. No word on whether the severe storm hitting the Maritimes will affect the Juniors' travel plans.
