
Juniors fall short in Home Opener, 5 to 4

Verdun Auditorium - Tonight the Montral Juniors open the 2010-2011 campaign at home against the Shawinigan Cataractes. The Juniors fought hard, but came up short as they lose to the Cataractes 5 to 4.
With 3447 fans in attendance, Jeremy Gouchie scored the opening goal of the season in traffic as he put home Jonathan Narbonne's point shot at 1:32 of the first period. The Cataractes came right back as Yannick Veilleux tied it up just thirty seconds later. Shawinigan took the lead with just more than five minutes remaining in the first as Joé Dubé put the puck past goaltemder Ãtienne Marcoux"s blocker side.
In the second period, the Cataractes added to the lead when center Samuel Hodhod tapped the puck home right in front at 2:40. Shawinigan broke the game open as Tommy Tremblay and Raphael Pouliot stretched the lead with two quick goals in the middle of the second. Montreal fired back with a goal from Samuel Aquin at 10:02. Defensemen scored on the powerplay to cut the deficit to two goals at 18:30. Xavier Ouellet would cut Shawinigan's lead to one as he scored in traffic before the conclusion of the second period.
Shawinigan's defense buckled down in the third and held the Juniors scoreless, securing the win for the visiting team.
The Montreal Juniors will be facing off against the Gatineau Olympiques at home on Sunday, September 12th at 3:05pm at the Verdun Auditorium.
