Montreal Juniors News Release

Sunday, February 8th, 2009 - The Montreal Juniors, on the ice for their third game in as many days, looked the regain winning ways after a four game losing streak. Facing Nathan Dunnett and the Drakkar of Baie-Comeau, the Juniors etched out a 4-2 win at home.

A high energy first period proved to be a successful one for the struggling Juniors, as captain Matt Fillier got his team on the board at the 15:32 mark for his 13th goal of the season.

Leading by a score of 1-0 entering the second, the Junior's struck early as Angelo Esposito banked his team leading 24th goal against Dunnett. Three minutes later Baie-Comeau would respond with a goal by Guillaume Goulet for his 33rd of the season. With Juniors defencemen Pat O'Keefe in the box, the Drakkar did not miss on their chance to tie the game up at two a piece as Emrik Guillemette beat Jake Allen. The Juniors weren't done, however, as Matthew Brenton managed to cash in the puck after a scramble around the net at 17:17, for his sixth goal and the teams third of the night.

With a one-goal lead entering the third both goalies made their teams some key saves to keep the score tight up until the very end. With an empty net the Juniors sealed their first win in four games with a goal by Philippe Fontaine in front of their home crowd!

The Juniors begin a busy week, with games on Wednesday night against the Victoriaville Tigres at 7pm and Friday night against Patrick Roy and his Quebec Remparts at 7:30pm, followed by a visit from the Gatineau Olympiques on Sunday February 15th at 4:30pm.
