Montreal Juniors News Release

The Montreal Juniors beat the Lewiston MAINEiacs by a 6 to 5 score in overtime.

Montreal forward Trevor Parkes quickly gave his team a two goal lead by scoring his third and fourth markers of the postseason. However, the MAINEiacs would reply with nothing less than four unanswered goals, three coming off the stick of Matthew Bissonnette, his second, third and fourth of the playoffs. Defenseman Olivier Dame-Malka scored the visiting team's other goal.

In the third period, the Juniors battled hard and mounted a comeback. First, Louis Leblanc notched his fifth of the post season, followed by Philippe Lefebvre with his third of the playoffs, and Louis-Marc Aubry with his second of the post season, the latter giving his team a one goal lead with less than two minutes remaining in the period. But, before the celebration could begin, Lewiston's Michael Chaput notched his fourth of the playoffs, sending the game into overtime.

In the extra period, Montreal's David Rose scored on a breakaway to give his team the win, his second of the playoffs.

Juniors' defenseman Xavier Ouellet picked up four assists.

Lewiston goaltender Nicholas Champion stopped 42 of the 48 pucks fired his way, while Montreal's Jean-François Bérubé turned away all 31 of the 36 shots he faced. Trevor Parkes(MTL), Matthew Bissonnette (LEW) and Xavier Ouellet (MTL) were respectively named first, second and third stars of the game.

The series continues tomorrow afternoon, as game two takes place at the Verdun Auditorium at 3:05pm.
