Juniors Blow Out Titan 6 To 1

Montreal January 10th 2010- The Montreal Juniors visited Bathurst as they faced the Titan in a Sunday afternoon showdown. The Juniors scored four unanswered goals in the second period and never looked back as they defeated the Titan 6 to 1. Montreal's penalty killing was excellent as they killed off every Titan power play and scored two shorthanded goals.

Without any scoring in the first period, the Juniors erupted for four unanswered goals in the second. Loic Podrier fired the puck past Guillaume Nadeau for his fifth of year from Guillaume Asselin at 7:19 of the second. Just two minutes later, Jeremy Gouchie scored an unassisted shorthanded goal. Goals from Chris Thorne and Nicolas Chouinard would give the Juniors a four goal lead before heading to the third period.

Titan's Bryon Milson finally got one on the board for Acadie-Bathurst at 12:34 of the third. The Juniors still had some scoring left to do. Chris Thorne scored another shorthanded goal for the Juniors, which was also his second of the night. With eleven second left in the game, Juniors Guillaume Asselin also found the back of the net for his fourteenth of the year. The Juniors easily defeated the Titan 6 to 1.

Montreal goaltender Etienne Marcoux was excellent between the pipes as he denied 22/23 shots in the win. Titan goaltender Guillaume Nadeau Francois gave up six goals in the loss. Montreal improves to 21-19-0-3 while Acadie-Bathurst is now at 15-24-3-2.

The Montreal Juniors will now conclude this road trip with a match up against the Rimouski Oceanic on Friday. The Juniors will then open up a three game home stand starting Sunday, January 17th, when they face the Victoriaville Tigers at 4:05PM. The Val-d'Or Foreurs and the Saint John Sea Dogs will visit Montreal on the 22nd and 23rd respectively.
