September 3, 2010 - Northern League (NL)
Rockford RiverHawks News Release
LOVES PARK, Ill. - Junior Riverhawk Satchel Daleo has been selected to compete for the USA Baseball Great Lakes National Team Identification Series Regional Team. The 13 year old is one of 18 players who were chosen from tryouts which were held in Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, and Iowa. The team will hold a series of practices before going to the USA Baseball Complex September 9-12 in Cary, North Carolina. Players in the 13 U, 15U, and 17U age groups will compete against other regions from across the United States. From that pool of players, a team will be selected to represent the United States in the Junior Olympics and the Pan American Games. This is the second year in a row that Daleo has made the region team, but thus far has failed to make the cut for the Olympic squad. The Junior RiverHawks are a 13 U baseball team that finished it's season with a 52-28 record.
The RiverHawks are members of the Northern League, an eight-team independent professional baseball league in its 18th season. Advertising and season-ticket information for the 2011 season is available by calling (815) 885-2255. Games are broadcast live on ESPN 1380 (WTJK-AM) and on ESPN1380.com.
