Schaumburg Flyers News Release
Schaumburg, IL-The Flyers bats were hot on a cold night at Alexian Field. Dustin Glant was on the mound for the Flyers as they jumped to a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Travis Brown picked up an easy RBI with a bases loaded walk.
Winnipeg struck back against Glant in the third by scoring four runs. Kevin West started the scoring with an RBI single. With two outs and the Goldeyes taking a 2-1 lead, Vince Harrison hit a pop-up that Chris Schultz misjudged in left field. Two runs scored on the play giving Winnipeg a 4-1 lead.
Glant would settle down after the third inning and the Flyers bats would pick up in the fourth. Back to back doubles by Tommy Fitzgerald and Dylan Parzyk made the score 4-2. Kit Pellow would double in Parzyk and Mario Delgado followed by hitting his eighth home run on the season giving the Flyers the lead for good.
The Flyers would tack on another run in the sixth inning. Delgado drove in his third run of the game with an RBI single, making the score 6-4. On the night, Glant gave up four earned runs on twelve hits in six innings. Brian McCullough came in with runners on first and second in the top of the seventh. He was able to get Luis Alen to ground into a double play and Vince Harrison to ground out to second base to get out of the inning. McCullough showed why he was the Rawlings player of the month of August by picking up a three inning save, his sixth of the season.
