Junior Blue Jackets Lose To Des Moines 4-2
Columbus, OH - The Ohio Junior Blue Jackets four-game winning streak came to an end against the Des Moines Buccaneers 4-2 at Nationwide Arena Sunday.
The Junior Blue Jackets (13-19-5, 31 pts) scored just 58 seconds into the second period to tie the game 1-1, after Des Moines (8-28-4, 20 pts.) got a goal from Rody Selk in the first. Tim Hall's shorthanded goal was the fifth of the season for Ohio, and Hall's 11th tally of the season. The Buccaneers would regain the lead again at the end of the period, scoring with 1:25 left in the second.
Ohio goaltender Pasquale Terrazzano made 23 saves in 40 minutes of action, but left the game in between periods due to an injury. Corson Cramer replaced Terrazzano and stopped six of eight shots in the third period.
Des Moines took a 3-1 lead when Michael Dorr scored his first goal of the season midway through the period. The Junior Blue Jackets answered with a goal by Elias Bianchi, who got a pass from Hall for a tap in goal. Bianchi assisted on Hall's goal earlier in the game and defensemen Steven Spinell and Greg Pateryn picked up assists in the contest.
Derek Elliot completed the scoring at the 16:39 mark of the third period, as Des Moines evened the all-time series 3-3-1. Fredrik Bergman made 28 saves in net for the Buccaneers to earn the victory.
Ohio will host the Green Bay Gamblers next Friday and Saturday at the Dispatch Ice Haus. Game times are set for 9 p.m. Friday and 9:45 p.m. Saturday.
