Junior Blue Jackets lose to Des Moines 2-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Junior Blue Jackets were shutout 2-0 by the Des Moines Buccaneers Sunday at Nationwide Arena.

Ohio (9-34-7, 25 pts.) goaltender Corson Cramer saved 32 shots on goal from Des Moines (25-17-6, 56 pts.) players. However, it was not enough as the visitors took a two-goal win back to Iowa.

The Buccaneers scored both of their goals in the second period. The first tally came forward Kyle Bailey, with assists begin credited to Shane Sims and Jimmy Martin. At the 15:48 mark of the period, Sims scored a goal to give Des Moines a 2-0 lead. Derek Elliot and Richard Purslow assisted on the play.

The first goal was on the power play, where the Buccaneers went 1-for-3 for the game. Ohio was 0-for-6 with the man advantage and were out shot 34-22 for the game.

Des Moines goaltender Matt Dalton earned the shutout win by making 22 saves.

The Junior Blue Jackets play two road games next weekend, at Waterloo on Friday and at Cedar Rapids on Saturday. Game time is set for 8 p.m. (ET) for both games. The team returns home March 21 to face the Indiana Ice. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
