Junior Blue Jackets Fall In First Playoff Game 8-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Junior Blue Jackets lost 8-0 to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Tuesday at Dispatch Ice Haus in the franchise's first ever playoff game. The RoughRiders have taken a 1-0 lead in the series.

Ohio kept it close early, finishing the first period down 1-0 after Kevin Wehrs scored for Cedar Rapids. At the first intermission, the shots were 12-11 in favor of the visitors, whose goal deflected in off defenseman Dennis Urban's stick.

Junior Blue Jackets goalie Corson Cramer recorded 29 saves in the game, but could not stop the RoughRiders offense. Cedar Rapids scored four goals in the second period, including two from Tommy Wingless and one from Jacob Cepis.

In the third period, Cepis added two more for Cedar Rapids and completed the scoring for the game with a goal at the 16:17 mark. Cedar Rapids goalie Richard Bachman turned away 26 shots to earn the shutout victory for the visitors.

The Junior Blue Jackets play a best-of-seven series with the RoughRiders, which will continue with Game 2 of the series tomorrow night, April 18, at the Dispatch Ice Haus. Game time for Wednesday is set for 7 p.m.
