Colorado Mammoth News Release
On Sunday, August 25, the Jr Mammoth won the Bantam Division Championship at the Jr. NLL tournament in Toronto, Ontario. This is the first time in tournament history that Colorado has brought home the Bantam Division title.
The Bantam team, made up primarily of Coloradan youth players in 7th and 8th grades, went undefeated (6-0) throughout the weekend-long Jr NLL tournament. In the Bantam Division Final on Sunday, the Jr Mammoth faced off against the Jr Seals from San Diego, winning the Championship game 8-4.
The Jr Mammoth and Jr Seals stayed neck-and-neck through the first period. At halftime, it was the Jr Seals who led 3-2, but the Jr Mammoth rebounded after the break with three consecutive goals to take a 5-3 lead with 9:42 left to play in the second period. The Jr Mammoth then held their lead to the final buzzer.

Another notable player on the Jr Mammoth Bantam squad was goalie Emma Mielke who was one of the few girls who played in the Jr NLL tournament. It was players like Emma who demonstrated that the game of lacrosse is truly growing. Everyone can play.
Emma said her advice to other girls who want to play box lacrosse is, "Step up and just be confident. Trust your girls. Make friends with them because then they'll know they can trust you. Have fun with it. [Box lacrosse] is a great experience."
Former Mammoth forward Jamie Shewchuk, now the Mammoth's color commentator, served as Jr Mammoth Bantam Division head coach, also coaching the Pee Wee Division. Mammoth forwards Kyle Killen and Jeff Wittig joined Shewchuk on the bench, working with the Bantam, Pee Wee and Midget Divisions.
Both Jessie Gallant, Director of Box Lacrosse Operations at LXTC, and Cody Moll, Mammoth team operations manager, were instrumental in the Jr Mammoth's success over the weekend, managing operations for all three teams.
