The Springfield Jr. Blues swept the Topeka Roadrunners with another convincing win Saturday night, 6-3. Next up: The St. Louis Bandits- who have had a weeks rest since their last game.
Trent Frey, who is the NAHL league leading goal scorer, started the fireworks after an early Topeka goal. The power play goal was assisted by Jack Callahan and Austin Coldwell. Rob Dongara got one of the prettiest goals of the year as the Blues were short-handed.The Roadrunners tied it up at two each before Matt Globke tapped home a rebound to take the lead. Justin Hochsprung and Kevin O'Donnell assisted on that play.
Hochsprung got a break-away goal after coming out of the penalty box and recieving a perfect pass from Austin Coldwell. Bri! an Prost also recieved an assist on the play. Kyle Verbeek got the next Springfield goal with an assist from Dongara. He then scored his second of the night - an empty netter - to top off the scoring for Springfield. C. J. Groh was in the net for the Blues. For the second night in a row, he was named the number 1 star of the game.
The team heads to St. louis tomorrow for a 2pm game against the well-rested Bandits.
