
Jr. Blues Look to Season Home Opener To Get Needed Win

The Springfield Jr. Blues, who are now on a five-game losing streak, are hoping that the friendly confines of the Nelson Center will help them get back in the winning column. The Blues play the defending NAHL Champion St. Louis Bandits Friday night at 7:30pm. Friday is Fit Club Night. The first 500 fans will recieve free water bottles and other free give-a-ways.
The teams will travel back to Chesterfield to play again Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. The matchup is an important one for both teams as they battle for dominance in the competitive four-team South Division, along with Topeka and Witchita Falls. The Bandits are currently in first place with the Blues in fourth place. The Blues beat St. Louis in two pre-season games and the teams have not seen each other in the regular season. TEAM NOTES...New-comer Trent Frey and Veteran Jon Gaffney lead the team in scoring with 8 points each. Nick Curry follows with 7 points.... Starting goaltender Matt Vechorek has stopped 185 of the 204 shots he has seen so far.... Coach Chris Wyler is now the longest tenured coach in the NAHL with six seasons behind the bench as assistant coach and two seasons as head coach..., two of Springfield's four losses have been in shootouts...St. Louis is coached by former NHL'er Jeff Brown. ALL friday and Saturday games this season will begin! at 7:30pm.
