
Jr Blues Get Win over Brown Bears

The Jr. Blues got a 3-2 win over the Kenai River Brown Bears Saturday night to split the weekend series.
On Friday night, the Brown Bears jumped out to an early lead by scoring a goal less than two minutes into the game. Sam Craggs then scored an unassisted goal to tie the game up at 1-1. Kenai River then scored back-to-back goal to extend their lead to 3-1. Both teams were held scoreless in the second. In the third, the Jr. Blues tried to mount a comeback when Craggs scored his second goal of the night off an assist from Matt Long. Unfortunately that would not be enough and Kenai River got the 3-2 win.
Saturday night, the Jr. Blues jumped out to an early lead when Brennan Blaszczak scored off assists from Brady Tomlak and Nikolai Knyzhov at the 4:44 mark of the first period. In the second, Josh Bell found the back of the net off assists from Luke Raditec and Erich Fear to push the lead to 2-0. Matt Long then scored off assists from Teddy Rotenberger and Blaszczak to push the lead to 3-0. The brown Bears made things interesting by scoring two third period goals, but the Jr. Blues held on for a 3-2 win.
Niko Della Maggiore had 25 saves in the win.
The Jr. Blues head back home for a two game set against the Coulee Region Chill next weekend.
