Midfielder Josiel Núñez, who spent the 2019 season with Forward Madison FC, has been called up to the Panama National Team. Núñez was on loan with the Flamingos from C.D. Universitario last year and started in all but one of FMFC's USL League One matches.
Núñez, who played an important role in Forward Madison's inaugural season, was rewarded by Panama head coach Américo Gallego after scoring three goals and providing four assists for the Flamingos. Núñez scored FMFC's first-ever goal on April 19 in a win over Orlando City B.
The Panama National Team was one of only 32 teams to make it into the 2018 FIFA World Cup, edging out the United States in a competitive qualification process. Panama is currently ranked 80th in the world by FIFA.
