Joey Tavernese Honored by League for 9 Point Weekend

SYRACUSE, New York - Joey Tavernese had his biggest weekend as a Silver Knight of the season, helping the team to a 2-0 weekend. The Silver Knights traveled down to Harrisburg on Friday where the Knights came out on top 8-7, thanks to a hat trick by Joey, before he added 4 more goals and 2 assists on a Sunday afternoon home match against the Rampage.
The 9 point weekend was the second of its kind for the Silver Knights this season. Kenardo Forbes also scored 9 points on 6 goals and 3 assists in week 15.
"I spent a lot of time last week in practice on finishing and I guess the practice paid off." Said Tavernese after Sunday's win. "I'm not the best player, I'm not the worst player...but I work on the little things to put myself on an equal playing field."
Over the last 5 games, Tavernese has averaged 3.2 points per game for the Silver Knights. Joining the Silver Knights midway through the season he has been a force in front of goal ever since. In his 10 games as a Silver Knight Joey has climb the point ranks and now sits 3rd on the team in points with 24 including 15 goals and 9 assists.
Tavernese becomes the 8th different Silver Knight player named to the MASL Team of the Week.

GK - Andrew Coughlin, Syracuse Silver Knights: Recorded 25 saves, allowed only 4 goals against and earned two wins in his first two professional starts in the MASL versus the St. Louis Ambush and Baltimore Blast at home.
D - Victor Quiroz, San Diego Sockers: Scored the game winning goal in overtime and added 2 assists to help the Sockers defeat Soles de Sonora 10-9 and handing them their first home loss of the season.
D - Darren Toby, Syracuse Silver Knights: Recorded 1 goal and added 3 blocks total in two wins this weekend and helped lead the Silver Knights defense allowing only 4 goals.
M/F - Cristian Gutierrez, Atletico Baja: Recorded a total of 6 goals and added 3 assists this weekend in two home wins versus Rancho Seco Saltillo.
M/F - Doug Miller, Syracuse Silver Knights: Helped his new team the Silver Knights to two victories in his first two games by scoring on the shootout in the 3-2 shootout win over the St. Louis Ambush and then scored 1 goal and added 1 assist in the 3-2 victory over the Baltimore Blast.
F - Mauricio Salles, Ontario Fury: Scored a total of 6 goals and added 3 assists in two road wins this weekend against the Turlock Express and Sacramento Surge, helping extend the Fury road win streak to 4 games.
