Kearney, NE. - Tri-City Storm forward Joey Cipollone has announced a commitment to play college hockey at Quinnipiac University. Cipollone is currently in his second season with the Storm and has appeared in all three games since joining the team on January 14th. He scored his first goal of the season in Tri-City's 4-3 win over Waterloo last Tuesday. Cipollone is set to play his first home game at the Viaero Center this weekend since April 15th, 2018.

Joey Cipollone, 20, of Purchase, New York rejoined the Storm last week following a year and a half career with the University of Vermont Catamounts (NCAA). Cipollone appeared in all 60 regular season games and both Clark Cup Playoff games with the Storm during the 2017-2018 season. In his return to the lineup on January 14th, Cipollone scored a breakaway goal with less than three minutes to play in the 2nd period at Young Arena in Tri-City's 4-3 defeat of the Western Conference leading Waterloo Black Hawks. With the road win, the Tri-City Storm improved to 5-0-0-1 all-time when Joey Cipollone scores a goal. Cipollone was drafted by Tri-City 46th overall in the 3rd Round of the 2015 USHL Phase I draft. Prior to making his debut with the Storm in the 2017-2018 regular season, Cipollone skated for The Loomis Chaffee School and the Connecticut Wolf Pack.

"Quinnipiac gives me the opportunity to play for a terrific hockey program and study in a well-known business program. The coaching staff is great, and they played a big factor in my decision. Quinnipiac will give me a great opportunity to develop both as a player and as a person. The campus is awesome, the rink is outstanding, the facilities are great, and they have a lot of resources there." Forward Joey Cipollone

"We're really happy for Joey and his family. He's committed to a program that has had a ton of success on the ice and one that gives him a chance to pursue a great education. Now Joey has a chance to focus on hockey and make sure he is best suited to be an impact player when he arrives at Quinnipiac next season. Head Coach Anthony Noreen
