Joel Kindred, All-Star on his Way to KW
December 16, 2021 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
KW Titans News Release
Our second signing is no stranger to KW Fans if they watched any league games over the past couple of years.
Joel Kindred is coming off an all-star season in Colombia with the Armenian Cafeterios basketball club.
Joel is a 6'4 ¬Â³ combo guard that will be a great addition to the back court with Tate. They even played together over the years growing up in North Carolina.
"I'm blessed and thankful for the KW Titans organization believing in my abilities and giving me the opportunity to continue my playing career.
I have played at KW numerous times during my two years with the Halifax Hurricanes. KW has a great fan base, a welcoming community, and organization. I recently played with Akeem Ellis who played numerous years for KW in Colombia this past season and he has told me nothing good things about Kitchener and the organization. Hearing the planning from Neal Foreman and Mel Kobe, as well as their expectations of the players this year, along with all the other positive feedback about them made my decision that much easier. Tyrel Tate who recently signed is from my hometown, we grew up playing against each other but this will be the first time playing together. It just seemed like a great fit for me to continue my career all around.
I am excited to get to Kitchener to meet my new teammates , coaches & fans. I believe this will be a great season for us and the 10th season of the NBL Canada. "
Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, Kindred attended private HBCU St. Augustine's College in North Carolina.
A defensive disruptor, Kindred will play some point guard and shoot guard, providing a large and quick backcourt.
"Joel has proven himself both in the NBLC, and with multiple teams overseas. He's explosive and defensively aggressive. With him and Tate knowing each other so well, the chemistry will be there from day 1. Joel is community oriented and loves meeting fans and talking with youngsters. Training camp is going to be here before we know it." - Mel Kobe - VP Basketball Operations & General Manager.
