LAS VEGAS, NV - THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 10 - Two-time United Football League championship-winning Head Coach JIM FASSEL has been named President of the Las Vegas Locos.

The former New York Giants head coach has operated in a dual role of Head Coach and General Manager of the Locos and enjoyed unprecedented success, winning the first two UFL championships, while posting an overall 11-5 record.

UFL founder and Las Vegas Locos owner BILL HAMBRECHT announced at an Open Forum Media Lunch at the Las Vegas Locos team facility that Fassel will orchestrate the business operations of the Locos in addition to his joint General Manager and Head Coach role.

Jim is a proven winner on the field and we believe his success will be replicated off the field with the Locos," said Hambrecht. "Being named President is a very positive move for the organization and also a form of reward for his dedication to the Locos and the United Football League.

"The UFL remains committed to Las Vegas, which we believe is the ideal market for professional football. Jim shares that belief and is the ideal person to lead us into future seasons."

Fassel relocated before the 2010 season kickoff to live year-round in Las Vegas and has embraced the community that is home to his Locos.

"I am honored to accept the position and the challenge that comes with the role of President of the Las Vegas Locos," he said. "I will assume responsibility for the day to day business and operation of the organization and will put a strong team in place to manage the Locos.

"I have confidence that our staff will steer the ship, or perhaps I should say drive the locomotive, when I am busy with football matters during the season. We will improve local awareness of the Locos, target sponsorship and investment, raise ticket sales and attendance and seek increased media coverage."

Fassel and the Locos will defend the UFL championship against the Hartford Colonials, Omaha Nighthawks, Sacramento Mountain Lions and Virginia Destroyers when the league's third season kicks off in early August.
