Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release

(Blaine, MN) - Shot after shot after shot was the story yesterday afternoon for the Jets, in a losing effort at the skates of the Alaska Avalanche in the opening game of the NAHL Showcase, 5-4.

In a game where over 50 shots were put on Avalanche net minder Dusan Sidor (Switzerland), the Jets were unable to over come a 2-1 and 3-2 lead falling with the last shot of the game sailing 2 inches over the cross bar by Jordy Trottier (Bozeman, MT).

Marc Mihulka (Grand Forks, ND) got the scoring started in the first with a nifty wrist shot to beat Sidor and knot the game at 1-1. Harrison (Temperance, MI) gave the Jets a 2-1 advantage with a power-play goal half way through the first but it wasn't enough as the Avalanche tied it up late.

The second period saw the Jets get out to another lead but it was washed away late again and the two teams remained tied until the game winner was sniped by Highly (Powell, OH) with just over 7 minutes to play in the game. When it was all said and done the Jets had nothing to hang their head about in the opening game of the season firing off 54 shots and going (2-8) with the man advantage. The Jets play Kenai River at 11am today.
