Alpena Home Opener Friday

Alpena MI: After starting the season last week at the NAHL showcase with a 2-2 record in Blaine, MN the Alpena IceDiggers open their home schedule this Friday, September 28th at 7:00PM versus the Traverse City North Stars.

The IceDiggers defeated the North Iowa Outlaws 3-2 on Saturday night. Alpena is currently six points behind first place St. Louis, the Bandits have played two more games than Alpena.

"At times at the showcase we looked very good and at other times we looked like the young team we are." said head coach Kenny Miller. "The guys worked very hard and we were able to get two wins and stay in the hunt after one week of the regular season."

The Traverse City North Stars recorded a record of 2-0-2 at the showcase as they head to Alpena. "They played good hockey all week, the North division is going to be very tough." added Miller. The North division went 17-4-3 at the NAHL Showcase.

Leading Alpena in points after four games is rookie forward Jon Puskar (Canton MI) who has recorded 1 goal and 6 assists. Veteran and Alpena native Erik Peterson is second in points for the Diggers' with 1 goal and 5 assists. Goaltenders Dan Pason (Trenton MI) and Nate Pellegrino (Woodlyn PA) both earned a victory each at the showcase.

DIGGER NOTES:

Season ticket holders can pick up their season tickets this week Tuesday thru Thursday from 9:30AM till 7:30PM inside the IceDiggers main office. Fans that have still not purchased their tickets can still receive the discounted rates by stopping by the office.
