Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release
(Owatonna, MN) In a game where it came down to goalies' Scott Pederson (Lake Villa, IL) for the Express and Joe Dawson (Minneapolis, MN) for the Jets, it was Dawson who made one more save for the 3-2 shootout win Saturday night.
The Jets came into Saturday night's face off in the midst of their first three game losing streak of the season. After falling behind 1-0 off the stick of Jordan Singer (Lino Lakes, MN) the Jets would go on to out shoot the Express but trailed 1-0 after one period.
Early in the second as Pederson was heading to the bench for a penalty, C.J. Willms (North St. Paul, MN) buried it and the Express were up 2-0. The Jets' had every scoring opportunity a team could ask for and Pederson was closing doors left and right. Crashing the net short-handed Pat Dietz (Moorhead, MN) got a rebound off Pederson the Sam Carr (Roseau, MN) tipped in for his first goal of the season and the Jets were on the board, 2-1 ending the second.
It would remain a scoreless up until the last five minutes. Finally after two rebounds and a power-play later Marc Mihulka (Grand Forks, ND) rifled home the game tying goal with under 3:40 to play. The game would be sent into overtime tied at 2-2.
After a scoreless extra frame the teams would prepare for the coveted shootout. The Jets would send Jordy Trottier (Bozeman, MT) as the first shooter and he would make Pederson look like sally getting the first goal. Mihulka would get the game-winning goal; meanwhile Dawson would play out of his mind stopping four of five shots. All in all the Jets would shake the monkey from their back and leave on top, 3-2.
