(Owatonna, MN) - In a game where miscues were common and holding a lead was not the Jets gave up three unanswered to the Express falling 6-4.
In the first it was Marc Mihulka (Grand Forks, ND) who got it going unassisted out of the penalty box making it 1-0. Tim Kirby (Austin, MN) nailed a power-play goal with just: 10 left, ending the period at 1-1.
Jordan Singer (Lino Lakes, MN) and Pat Dietz (Moorhead, MN) helped their respected teams to a 2-2 tie. It was a tail of turnovers and sloppy play by both teams that led to scoring opportunities and it was the Express who capitalized in the end. In the closing one minute, Mihulka was handed a gift assist from Robby Spalding of the Express making it 4-3 after two.
The third period was dominated by the Express as they out shot 13-3, out scoring 3-0 and out hustling the Jets for the victory. After a complete 360 from the first two periods the Jets seemed to be reeling for anything to make it work and it wasn't enough.
Mike Schumacher (Duluth, MN) left in the middle of the first period after taking an open ice hit from the Express defense. Schumacher would not return for the Jets.
