SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The JetHawks led 2-0 into the sixth inning but the Inland Empire 66ers scored six unanswered runs on their way to a 6-2 win on Saturday night at San Manuel Stadium.

Dean Deetz (4-5) began his night with five scoreless innings on the heels of Lancaster's shutout win in the series opener on Friday, but Inland Empire broke through to tie the game in the sixth. Deetz hit a batter and walked a batter to start the inning before leadoff man Tim Arakawa bunted them into scoring position. David Fletcher followed with an RBI-groundout and later, Wade Wass singled home the tying run.

Deetz remained in the game for the seventh and yielded a leadoff single to Ryan Sebra. Sebra proceeded to steal second, then moved to third on a passed ball before scoring on a Zach Welz single to give Inland Empire the lead.

Inland Empire (31-56) added three runs against reliever Kevin McCanna to put the game away. The JetHawks (44-42) were retired in order in the ninth inning to end the game.

Deetz completed seven innings for the first time this season and struck out a season-high six batters despite the loss. He allowed five hits, walked three batters and hit one.

Jason Hoppe (1-2) struck out five hitters in two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.

Lancaster scored its runs in the fourth inning against starter Jake Jewell. Johnny Sewald started the inning with a single to extend his hitting streak to 10 games. Ramon Laureano followed with a walk, and both runners advanced on a Bryan Muniz ground ball.

Jason Martin hit a weak ground ball to score Sewald from third and Trent Woodward followed with an RBI-single to give the JetHawks their second run.

Jewell allowed two runs on four hits over six innings with two strikeouts and five walks.

The JetHawks had an opportunity to take the lead in the first inning but ran their way out of the rally. Bobby Boyd led off with a walk and moved to second base on a passed ball. He took off for third on a 3-1 pitch to the next batter Sewald and was thrown out for the first out of the game. The pitch to Sewald was ball four. Laureano followed with a base-hit to put runners at first and second with one out but Sewald was caught trying to steal third base for the second out of the inning.

The series continues with the third of four games on Sunday at San Manuel Stadium. Akeem Bostick (0-1) will start against Alex Klonowski (6-8). First pitch is 5:05 p.m.
