Lancaster JetHawks News Release

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The JetHawks scored five runs in the first inning on their way to a 17-0 win over the Inland Empire 66ers on Sunday at San Manuel Stadium.

Brooks Marlow delivered the biggest blow in the opening frame, a three-run double to the wall in right field to put the JetHawks (45-42) up 5-0. Ramon Laureano picked up the club's first run on an RBI-single and Jamie Ritchie drew a walk with the bases loaded in the inning.

The runs were more than enough for starter Akeem Bostick (1-1) who earned his first win with his strongest outing of the year. The right-hander allowed just one hit over seven scoreless innings. He struck out a season-high six batters and walked four.

Inland Empire starter Alex Klonowski (6-9) was able to pitch into the fifth inning but ultimately allowed nine runs (eight earned) over 4.1 innings with three walks and two hit batters. He struck out four.

Up 8-0 heading into the fifth inning, the JetHawks took advantage of an error to put up another five-spot. Wade Wass was charged for an error on a missed catch that would have ended the inning without a run. Jason Martin followed with a two-run home run, his team-leading 16th of the season. Two batters later, Marlow delivered a two-run homer of his own to give him six RBIs in the game.

Lancaster added two runs in the eighth and a run in the ninth.

Bryan Muniz finished the game with four hits. Muniz and Ritchie both scored four times.

Andrew Thome pitched the final two innings to finish the game. The 66ers entered the bottom of the ninth with just one hit but were able to pick up two hits against Thome in the final inning.

The shutout is Lancaster's fourth of the season and their second in this series at Inland Empire. They shut out the 66ers, 2-0, on Friday.

The four-game series concludes on Monday at San Manuel Stadium. Brock Dykxhoorn (5-3) will start for Lancaster against Justin Anderson (4-7). First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
