Lancaster JetHawks News Release

LANCASTER, Calif. - Lancaster took its first lead in the eighth inning Sunday and beat Visalia, 5-4, at The Hangar. The JetHawks have won four consecutive series, taking nine of 12 games over that span.

Down by three in the sixth inning, Lancaster (23-15, 56-52) rallied to tie the game. With one out, Alan Trejo tripled and Tyler Nevin drove him in with a single. Vince Fernandez followed with a two-run home run to tie the game, 4-4.

Fernandez has a home run in fours-straight games, and his 18 home runs lead the JetHawks. Lancaster hit 18 home runs as a team over the six-game homestand.

Lancaster took the lead in the bottom of the eighth, handing Tyler Mark (1-2) his second loss of the season. Nevin led off with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Later in the inning, Wes Rogers doubled to put the JetHawks up by one. Rogers extended his hitting streak to 14 games with the double.

Ben Bowden (2-2) pitched a scoreless inning to earn his second California League win. Justin Lawrence worked around a two-out single in the ninth to pick up the save.

Visalia (15-23, 52-56) jumped in front thanks to a trio of home runs. Mark Karaviotis led off the game with a solo shot, and Jason Morozowski opened up the second inning with a home run. Jazz Chisholm hit a two-run blast- his fourth in 10 games for Visalia- to give the Rawhide a three-run lead.

Lancaster's come back clinched the series victory. The JetHawks won the final two games against the Rawhide after dropping Friday's opener, finishing up the homestand with a 5-1 record. The team is four games above .500 for the first time all year.

After a day off Monday, the JetHawks head to San Bernardino for a three-game series. Matt Dennis (7-10) goes for Lancaster Tuesday night against Inland Empire's Adrian De Horta. First pitch from San Manuel Stadium is 7:05 pm.
