(LANCASTER, CA) - Jonathan Meyer belted a two-run homer off the batter's eye in center field and the JetHawks got strong pitching from Jake Buchanan, Chris Hicks and Jonathan Meyer in a 4-3 win over High Desert at Clear Channel Stadium Monday. The victory snapped Lancaster's five-game losing streak.

Lancaster seized the early lead with three runs in the opening frame off Mavericks starter Chris Sorce. Jay Austin drew a leadoff walk, stole second base and advanced to third on a single from Austin Wates. Austin scored when Wates broke for second and was caught in a rundown before eventually being tagged out. Following a single by Kody Hinze, Meyer smacked a 1-0 changeup over the center field wall, which gave Lancaster a 3-0 advantage.

The JetHawks added a run in the when Austin delivered a sacrifice fly that plated Andy Simunic.

Buchanan (5-4) tossed three scoreless frames before giving up three runs, two of which were unearned, in the top of the fourth. After Dennis Raben singled to start the inning, Mario Martinez reached when Meyer committed a fielding error. Trevor Coleman ripped a two-run double and Gabriel Noriega added an RBI single to reduce the deficit to 4-3.

But Buchanan recovered to toss two consecutive scoreless innings before exiting the game after the sixth inning. Chris Hicks pitched two scoreless innings and Kirk Clark worked a 1-2-3 frame in the ninth to pick up his 14th save. Sorce (5-5) was charged with the loss.

The JetHawks will try to make it two wins in a row when the two teams meet Tuesday night at 7. Right-hander Andrew Robinson (3-6, 5.43 ERA) gets the start for Lancaster while the Mavericks are expected to counter with right-hander Brandon Maurer (2-1, 3.58 ERA).
