Lancaster JetHawks News Release
LANCASTER, Calif. - Lancaster returned home after a six-game road swing, losing, 15-2, to the Stockton Ports at The Hangar on Wednesday night. The JetHawks scored the first run, but Stockton's 17-hit effort was too much for Lancaster to overcome.
Lancaster (12-9, 46-43) scored a run on three hits in the first inning to take an early lead. Matt Hearn led off with a triple, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. Matt McLaughlin followed with an RBI single. Luis Castro singled in the inning as well, but one run was it for Lancaster's offense.
Stockton (11-10, 44-45) answered with two runs in the second inning and five more in the third. Lancaster's Lucas Gilbreath (3-7) took the loss, giving up seven runs (five earned) in three innings.
Lazaro Armenteros homered twice in the middle innings, including a grand slam in the fourth. Six different Ports had multi-hit games.
Xavier Altamirano (4-5) bounced back after the first inning for the Ports. Stockton's starter allowed just two runs total over seven innings, his longest start of the season.
The JetHawks have lost five in a row to Stockton, dating back to a four-game sweep at The Hangar in the First Half. The Ports have won five of the eight meetings between the teams this season.
The two-game series and six-game homestand continues on Thursday night. Will Gaddis (5-5) gets the ball against Stockton right-hander Jake Bray (2-1). First pitch is 6:35 pm at The Hangar.
