Jersey-Off-The-Back Auctions Headline 2008 Special Ballpark Events Schedule

(STATE COLLEGE, PA) - Throughout the year, the State College Spikes will host a multitude of special ballpark events, in addition to the club's 12 post-game firework shows. The Spikes open up their home schedule on June 19th against the Jamestown Jammers, with the first pitch set for 7:05 and a special opening day firework show to follow the game.

Highlighting the Spikes' 2008 special ballpark event schedule are three Jersey-Off-The-Back Auctions, including a hemp jersey (July18), pink jersey (August 13) and Ronald McDonald House jersey (July 26). The proceeds from all three auctions will go to charity.

An additional shining star in the special ballpark event schedule are the three clinics the Spikes will put on throughout the 2008 season. The Spikes will hold two Little League Clinics, on June 29 and July 20, where little leaguers will get to learn from the pros. The clinics will run from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., with the kids staying to watch the Spikes play afterwards.

For the third year straight, the Spikes will hold their unique Ladies Clinic on July 27. This clinic gives women of all ages the chance to come and have a lesson on baseball basics from Spikes players and coaches. A portion of the clinic will take place in a classroom setting, while the other portion will give participants the opportunity to practice their baseball skills. Participants will have the chance to stick around to watch the Spikes take on the Batavia Muckdogs and Medlar Field at Lubrano Park celebrates Ladies Night.

An additional new event coming in 2008 will be the Spikes' "Fun in the Sun Hat Drive" on July 16th when the Spikes play the Tri-City ValleyCats. Fans will have the opportunity to bring their unused or unwanted hats to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park and donate them to charity.

The Spikes' schedule of post-game firework shows return as a staple in the 2008 promotional schedule. The majority of Friday games throughout the 2008 season and all Sunday games will feature a post-game fireworks show, in addition to special nights including Opening Day (June 19), Independence Day Eve (July 3) and the final 2008 Spikes home game (September 4).

Single-game tickets for the Spikes' 2008 season will go on sale to the general public this Saturday, March 29th, beginning at 9 a.m. through the Spikes Ticket Office and on-line at www.statecollegespikes.com. To mark the first day of individual ticket sales, the Spikes will hold their annual TicketPalooza event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. This free event, which will be held at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, features samples from the 2008 Spikes menu, ballpark tours, on-field games and National Anthem Tryouts for the 2008 Spikes season.
