Jersey Express News Release
Madison, NJ - October 2nd, - Veteran point guard Johan Matos will return for the 2007-2008 season. This season will be the first full season with the Express for Matos.
Johan is a graduate of Montgomery College in Rockville, MD and played part of his first season in the ABA right out of his Alma Mater. After joining the team well into the 2006-2007 season, Johan made an immediate impact on the floor with his play. His leadership on the court, and in the locker-room made him an in-valuable teammate, and member of the Jersey Express Organization.
After the season, Johan received a contract to play in the Dominican Republic, where he continued to improve his individual skills. "Johan is a tenacious defender, and an excellent rebounder from the point guard position. A pass first point guard, who looks to take advantage of his teammates strengths, and opponent's weaknesses, Johan is the prototypical point guard, who is an extension of the coach on the floor" stated Co-owner Marsha Blount
"I learned a lot last year, and in my time in the Dominican Republic. I'm stronger, I'm faster, and I'm really looking forward to helping the team advance in the playoffs. This is going to be a good year for us. I've stayed in-touch during the off-season, and there are some good things happening in New Jersey; Matos stated.
ABA stat: Johan Matos ranked in the top six in steals for the 2006-2007 season.
