The Showdown At The Downtown Recreation Center - Aces Vs. Tiburones

October 2, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Las Vegas Aces News Release

Orlando, FL. There was a buzz around town about the ABA Orlando Aces. They were seen at community service events and participated in activities to promote cultural diversity. It became apparent early on that the players had a sense of compassion for the youth and desired to make positive contributions to educational endeavors and community development. But the question still lingered in the minds of many...Do these Aces have the skill and talent to play basketball on a professional level?

The exhibition game against the Puerto Rico Tiburones was a class act. After being down by 16 points, the Aces fought back and were led by Richard Millsap with 39 points. Other significant contributions came from Corey Moore with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and Antwan Robinson with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks. The Aces have perfected their strategy of each individual focusing on his personal best to contribute to the overall success of the team.

Coach Triplett was extremely impressed with the performance of rookie Michael Collier from Sarasota, FL. He also commends the entire team for giving positive reinforcement while we were down. Even though all 15 players did not play, there was a total team effort. "Our team spirit is high and our Central Florida fans believe that we are a top contender in the ABA," stated Coach Triplett.

In conclusion, to address the question about the skill, talent and level of professionalism by the Orlando Aces, let there be no confusion. The team is a top-notch team. "We were chosen to play against the Puerto Rico Tiburones because of the level of competition that we could bring to the court," added Triplett. "The fans were excited, the entertainment was classy, and the final score speaks for itself...Orlando 97, Puerto Rico 85. With the continued dedication to unity, practice and sound work ethics, watch God elevate this praying team to the next level." Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
