Carolina Cobras News Release

NEW YORK (May 8, 2003)- Luke Jensen, nine-year World TeamTennis veteran and television commentator, will kick off the second year of the WTT KidCaster program in Wilmington, Del., on Friday, May 9.

Jensen will be the Master of Ceremonies and Head Judge in Rodney Square for the World TeamTennis KidCaster program on Friday at 12 p.m. (EST). The event is being held in conjunction with "Tennis in the Streets" and USA Tennis Month. The 2003 WTT KidCaster program gives children ages 6-14 the opportunity to audition to become the official KidCasters of the Delaware Smash. After a winner is selected in each of the two age divisions (ages 6-9 & ages 10-14), they will be recognized in a halftime ceremony this summer and allowed to introduce and interview players. They'll also be part of the broadcast team for that evening's televised WTT match. Registration begins at 11 a.m. directly across from the Playhouse theatre.

"I'm very excited about returning to the program for another year," says WTT Youth Ambassador Jensen. "It's a great way for kids to get excited about tennis and get involved locally with a WTT team."

Jensen will provide the children with a quick 30-second audition script, similar to a sportscaster's television rundown of tennis highlights. He'll ask them to read the audition script on-stage in front of a panel of judges. The judging panel will consist of Luke, local media members and team officials. Participants will be judged equally on creativity, poise and delivery.

The WTT Pro League season runs from July 7 -27 with the season-ending championships slated for August 23.

Billie Jean King and Larry King originated World TeamTennis and its unique gender-equity team concept in the early 70's. The format used for a WTT Pro League match features teams comprised of two men, two women and a coach. Each match consists of five sets, with one set each of men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles and mixed doubles. Official WTT Pro League sponsors include Gatorade, Penn Tennis Balls and Wilson Rackets. For more information on the WTT Pro League, visit www.WTT.com.
