Columbus Cottonmouths News Release
The Columbus Cottonmouths announced today that defenseman Jeff Moor has been called up to the South Carolina Stingrays of the East Coast Hockey League. The 6'3", 201-pound defenseman has tallied 2 goals, 7 assists and 135 penalty minutes in 25 games this season for the Cottonmouths.
"This is a great opportunity for Jeff," head coach Jerome Bechard said. "He's got great size and has the ability to play at a higher level. Hopefully this experience will help prove to him what it takes to play at that next level."
Though the Snakes will lose Moor, they won't have to play shorthanded this weekend. With newcomer Jason Price recently signed to a five-game tryout, the Snakes roster will still have 18 active players.
The Snakes head to Huntsville to take on the first-place Havoc Thursday night before returning home for a pair of games at the Snake Pit this weekend. This Friday, Feb. 2, the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a jewel from Love's Diamond Exchange. Fans have the chance to be the lucky winner of a real diamond.
The Snakes will hold their annual Teddy Bear Toss on Saturday, Feb. 3. All fans are encouraged to bring a new teddy bear with them to the game. When the Snakes score their first goal, all fans will toss their bears onto the ice, and the bears will then be collected and distributed by Columbus Fire and EMS to children who have been victims of tragic fires, accidents and illness.
