Jazz Chisholm to Become 75th Missoula Alum to Reach the Show

September 1, 2020 - Pioneer League (PL) - Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

One of the Marlins' key acquisitions of the 2019 trade deadline is now set to make his Major League debut just after the 2020 trade deadline. The Marlins have called up star shortstop prospect, and 2016 Missoula stand-out, Jazz Chisholm in time for tonight's game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Chisholm found his way to Miami from the Diamondbacks in a deal to acquire right-hander Zac Gallen on July 31, 2019. With Gallen already looking like a very solid starter at the MLB level, Miami has clear intentions on making the top prospect their SS of the future.

Signed out of the Bahamas during the 2015-16 international signing window, Chisholm was welcomed to Missoula as a relatively unknown prospect. After flashing elite glove work, producing a slash line of .281/.333/.446 with 9 HR, 37 RBI, 13 SB and earning the nod as the Pioneer League's starting shortstop in the '16 Pioneer League v. Northwest League All-Star Game - all in his first professional season - Chisholm quickly gained attention on top-100 prospect lists, while ultimately being tabbed the Diamondback's top prospect in the fall of 2019.

Although Missoulians have not had the pleasure of catching any Minor League Baseball this year, Chisholm will become the 75th Missoula alumni to don his cleats, and take the field at the games highest level. With just shy of a month left in the shortened 2020 MLB season, baseball fans can follow their favorite Missoula MiLB alumni through September 27th . Stay tuned to GoPaddleHeads.com, and all PaddleHeads' social media platforms this summer for up to date news on stadium events and all Missoula alumni this summer.
