Jaynes Set To Suit Up With Jax
December 6, 2007 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Portland Lumberjax News Release
PORTLAND, December 6, 2007 - On Friday, December 14 from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. at the Bally Total Fitness Sport Turf on Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, Portland Tribune Executive Editor Dwight Jaynes will go where no member of the media has gone before: inside a scrimmage with the Portland LumberJax. Jaynes will be part of a five-on-five scrimmage that features Jax forward Ryan Powell, transition player Adam Bysouth, and goalie Dallas Eliuk.
Also filling in are Jax Vice President and former National Lacrosse League player, Brian Silcott and Jax Director of Sponsorships and former Gettysburg College Lacrosse Captain, Jay Mayes, Big Foot lacrosse Owner Jon Stephens and other members of the lacrosse community.
In light of comments made about the Jax on Fox 12's Oregon Sports Final by Jaynes in late-October, the Jax challenged Jaynes and Fox 12's Matt Smith to come and play with the team. Smith declined the invitation, but Jaynes accepted and will go toe-to-toe with the world's best lacrosse players.
The event is free and open to the public and media. Teams will be divided and the overall scrimmage will run for 20 minutes. After the scrimmage, Jaynes will have the opportunity to shoot one-on-one with the future hall-of-famer, NLL ironman Eliuk.
