Jax Training Camp Preview

December 2, 2008 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Portland Lumberjax News Release

PORTLAND, December 2, 2008 - The days are growing thin and the season opener for the Portland LumberJax is quickly approaching on Saturday, January 3rd against the Minnesota Swarm at 7:30 p.m. at the Rose Garden Arena. With only three weekends of Training Camp left, Head Coach/General Manager Derek Keenan once again expects a very competitive camp as the Jax practice from 7-9 a.m. and 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, December 6th at Indoor Goals in Beaverton.

"This weekend we will start implementing our team's system for the season," said Keenan. "We're not down to our roster yet, but we need to get into it. Our time is limited, so I expect another weekend of high pace and great intensity."

Now that players have worked together for two weekends, the coaching staff will be able to work more on specific team drills.

"There will be a lot more teaching at this camp as opposed to the first two," said Keenan. "Our focus this weekend will be all aspects of even strength play."

Keenan and his staff will also be faced with the difficult task of finalizing Portland's roster at the conclusion of the weekend.

"We will be at our final roster following this camp - for sure," stated Keenan.
