(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks General Manager Regy Thorpe announced today that the club has re-signed defenseman Marshall Abrams to a one-year deal. Further, the Knighthawks have also released forward David Brown.

"The organization is extremely excited to have Marshall back for one more year," said Thorpe. "We feel Marshall is a very big part of our puzzle as we move forward for the Champion's Cup. He still is one of the premier defenders in the league and I look forward to battling with him this year."

Abrams enters his eighth season with the Knighthawks and ninth in the National Lacrosse League in 2009 after recording five points (0+5) and collecting 66 loose balls in a career-high 16 games last season with Rochester.

A native of nearby Syracuse, Abrams registered his second-best offensive season during the 2007 campaign, where he notched 10 points (0+10) and scooped up 51 loose balls to help guide the team to the 2007 NLL title.

Abrams captured his best season in his first stint with the team during the 2001-02 season, posting career-highs in all offensive categories in points (19), goals (5) and assists (14). In 84 career games with the Knighthawks, the 6-foot-0, 225-pound defender has notched 45 points (7+38), 125 penalty minutes (PIM) and 353 loose balls. Abrams was originally a first-round selection (fifth overall) by the Columbus Landsharks in the 2000-01 NLL Entry Draft.

Brown leaves Rochester after scoring one goal in three games with Rochester last season. The 25-year-old York, Ontario, native played back-to-back seasons (2007-2008) and appeared in seven career games with the Knighthawks, compiling two goals, eight PIM and 20 loose balls and was a member of the 2007 Champions team.

Rochester opens the season on Friday, December 27th with an 8:00 p.m. game at Chicago against the Shamrox. The Knighthawks' home opener is scheduled for Saturday, January 10th against Chicago at 8:05 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena
