Portland Lumberjax News Release

PORTLAND, July 7, 2008 - The Portland LumberJax have re-acquired defenseman Brad MacDonald from the Chicago Shamrox in exchange for forward Matt Holman and a Second Round Selection in the 2009 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft, Head Coach/General Manager Derek Keenan announced today.

MacDonald appeared in 12 games for the Jax last season, scoring one goal and accumulating 24 penalty minutes after being selected by Portland in the Third Round (25th Overall) in the 2007 Dispersal Draft from the Arizona Sting.

In the playoffs, the Orangeville, Ontario native scored two goals and added one assist as Portland won the West Division.

After the season, MacDonald and other former Arizona players were once again dispersed as the Sting have elected not to play in the 2009 season. McDonald was selected by Chicago in the Second Round (16th Overall) of the 2008 Dispersal Draft before being re-acquired by Portland.

"Brad was a major contributor to our success down the stretch last season," said Keenan. "It's difficult to give up a young player in (Matt) Holman, but we see Brad as an integral part of the team for many years to come. He's a solid defender who has the ability to contribute in the transition game. We're thrilled to get him back."
