July 7, 2008 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Portland Lumberjax News Release
PORTLAND, July 7, 2008 - For the third consecutive year the Portland LumberJax are teaming with Portland Parks and Recreation (PP&R) to bring kids the Summer Playground Program. The annual Summer Playground Program is a FREE summer camp that provides lacrosse information and instruction to children throughout the Portland area.
Members of the team and front office will be on hand during the two announced dates to provide a brief history of lacrosse, teach basic fundamentals and ultimately the value of teamwork. By working hand-in-hand with PP&R, the Jax are able to continue to give back to the community and promote the sport of lacrosse.
This will be the 101st year of the Summer Playground Program. PP&R and their partners work to offer a variety of drop-in recreation activities for children in neighborhood sites throughout the city. Playground leaders create safe, supervised and fun filled environments with a variety of activities including sports, games, arts, crafts and nature.
Below are the two dates, locations and times for the upcoming Summer Playground Program.
July 31 Mt. Scott Community Center from 1-3 p.m.
August 12 Southwest Community Center from 9-4 p.m.
**Children are asked to arrive 10 minutes before each session.
