
Jason Gibson Wins NAL Coach of the Year

Jason Gibson, the head coach of the Columbus Lions since the team was created in 2006, has been named the 2021 NAL Coach of the Year. Gibson has led Columbus to an overall 7-2 record, including the playoffs, and the Lions third NAL Championship in four seasons.
In 14 seasons, Gibson has led the Lions to the playoffs 13 times. The Lions are 124-66 including playoffs under Gibson and they have won three league championships and three divisional championships.
This season the Lions have been dominant on offense and defense as the Lions are near the top of the NAL in most statistical categories. The Lions also had five players make Second Team All-NAL and three make First Team All-NAL.
Three Lions also took home major awards with Mason Espinosa winning the NAL MVP, Marvin Ross winning the NAL Defensive Player of the Year award and Lonnie Outlaw being named the NAL Most Improved Player.
Despite the many accolades his team has received, they look ahead to this Saturday and the 2021 NAL Championship game. The Lions have been in three of the four total NAL Championship games and are looking to win their first league championship since 2016.
