
Jarosz Scores Two in 3-2 Thriller Over Odessa

ODESSA, TX - AJ Jarosz scored a pair of goals and Anthony Stolarz stopped 29 shots as the Corpus Christi IceRays won their first game in Odessa this season 3-2 over the Jackalopes inside the Ector County Coliseum on Friday night.
The IceRays scored the much needed first goal of the game especially on the road in Odessa. Zach Holstrom broke inside the blue-line went around the defender, sliding the puck to AJ Jarosz who beat Odessa goaltender Connor Hellebuyck for his 11th goal of the year with 5:28 left to go in the first period. Greg Chapman picked up the other assist.
Corpus Christi entered the second period with a 1-0 lead, however, that was erased when Tyler Minx let a rocket go from just inside the blue-line through a screen beating IceRays goaltender Anthony Stolarz at the 6:32 mark of the second period.
Minx struck again to give Odessa the lead after AJ Jarosz hit the crossbar, the Jackalopes rushed back the other way and Josh Obregon set up Tyler Minx for his second goal of the period to take a 2-1 lead with 4:40 left to go in the second.
The IceRays struck back with a power-play goal off the stick of AJ Jarosz who picked up a loose puck in the slot, notching his second goal of the night with only 40 seconds left on the clock in the middle stanza.
In the third period Tyler Minx took a penalty, and was given an additional two minute penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. Corpus Christi capitalized on the 5-on-3 man advantage and Jonathan Grebosky was the goal scorer. It was his 5th goal of the year and held up for the game winner as the IceRays picked up their first road victory since in Amarillo on January 7th.
Anthony Stolarz stopped 27 of 29 shots in the win.
The IceRays and Jackalopes are back at it tomorrow night. Puck drops at 7:05PM, coverage begins at 6:50PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on ESPN Radio 1440AM.
