Janesville Jets News Release
The Janesville Jets organization is actively looking for new billet housing hosts for the upcoming 2012-13 season.
The Janesville Jets hockey players, ages 16 to 20, live with area billet/housing families during the season while they are away from their hometowns. Up to 27 Jets players move to Janesville from throughout the United States (and potentially abroad) late in August each year until the season ends in April. Each billet family is provided with the following:
- $300 a month per hockey player housed to offset food and other costs.
- Two Jets home season tickets per player housed.
- An invitation to partake in a special Housing Family Appreciation Night at one of the games where the billet parents are recognized.
Qualifications include providing a bedroom for each player as well as a commitment to the players and providing a safe and caring environment along with general responsible guidance. Additionally, the team will conduct background checks on all billet applicants. A billet handbook will be provided outlining all rules and guidelines.
"Billeting can be very rewarding for area parents, but it does take a special commitment to the players," stated Jets Head Coach Joe Dibble. "These billets will be responsible for the players while they are away from home. And the hours can be a little crazy - the players may be returning home at 4 AM from some away game series."
Interested parties should visit the Janesville Jets website at www.janesvillejets.com and click on the Billeting tab on the left hand side of the homepage for more information and the application.
Carol McCoshen is serving as the Jets Billet Coordinator. Parents interested in being a Jets Billet with additional questions can also email Carol at carol.mccoshen@capitolconsultants.net .
