
Jamestown Drops Maryland in 6-3 Contest

Odenton, MD - The Black Bears looked to get revenge on the Rebels after falling 7-0 the night before. While Maryland started off strong, it was a four goal second period by Jamestown that did the Black Bears in with a 6-3 win.
Maryland forward Luke Mountain started the scoring in the first period on the power play. Mountain got a pass in the high slot and used a snap shot to beat Rebels' goalie Noah West on the top left side to make it 1-0.
They held this lead into the second period until midway through. It was hear where Jamestown was able to score three goals in two minutes and 45 seconds to change the momentum of the game to make it 3-1. Rebels' forward Jake Felker tied the game on the power play, driving the net and getting a deflection that lobbed the puck over Black Bears' goalie David Tomeo and in. Jamestown forward Alex Frye scored the first of his two goals on a rebound shortly after to make it 2-1. Just under a minute later, Augustine Moore deflected an Alex Roy shot to give the Rebels a 3-1 lead.
Maryland defender Logan Kons scored his first goal of the season on the power play to cut the lead to 3-2. Kons got the puck at the point and shot the puck through a screen top left corner. Johnstown was able to respond, with Alex Frye putting home another rebound with under two minutes to go to make it 4-2.
Rebels' defender James Crossman made it 5-2 on the power play in the third period. Crossman received a pass from Nick Petruolo and let a slap shot go from the point. Minutes later, Maryland captain Connor Pooley snapped a close range shot top right corner to make it 5-3. Nick Stuckless capped off the scoring with an empty net goal to make the final score 6-3. David Tomeo recorded 32 saves in the loss for Maryland while Noah West turned aside 18 shots in his second consecutive win.
The Black Bears continue its home stand Friday, March 8th against the Northeast Generals. Puck drop is at 7:45 PM ET at Piney Orchard Ice Arena.
